Code & Go Robotic Mouse Activity set is one of Learning Resources S.T.E.M activity sets for children 5 and older.
What is S.T.E.M?
S.T.E.M is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Education.
This activity set is a new 2016 product. It's not only fun play for at home but would be great for a classroom as well. If your children like mazes, this activity set is going to be loads of fun for them.
The activity set came packaged nicely. The outside of box has bright, clear pictures of the activity in use. Inside the box this deluxe set includes 30 double-sided coding cards, 10 double-sided activity cards, a cheese wedge, and an activity guide that provides the perfect hands-on introduction to coding concepts. The paths are created with 16 maze grids that will create a 20"x20" maze board, 22 maze walls and 3 tunnels are included for endless possibilities. Also in the box, Colby the programmable robotic mouse, who lights up, makes sounds, and features 2 speeds, along with colorful buttons located on him that match the coding cards for easy programming and sequencing.
My granddaughter Kayla was excited to begin building mazes. The Code & Go Robotic Mouse Activity Set comes with a lot of pieces. She had them all out exploring the set in no time at all. She figured out all on her own that the boards easily clicked together. She could have made one huge board just clicking all the boards together, but my girl had grander ideas of creative mazes.
Once she was satisfied with the patterns and maze she had created, we worked together the first time to get Colby the mouse programmed for his first race to find the cheese wedge. Colby the programmable mouse is battery operated. The 3 AAA batteries he takes are not included in the activity set. We used the cards and colored buttons to create a step by step path for Colby, and then we programmed the sequence of steps. The correct buttons need to be pressed in order for the race to begin. It was really simple, I worried a little about not being able to help her figure it out, but in no time we were watching Colby light up, make sounds and racing to find his cheese wedge!
Kayla has a lot of fun playing with this activity set. She builds different mazes and the fun for her goes on and on. She seems to feel accomplished herself when Colby the mouse finds his wedge of cheese. She's having wonderful play time as well as lessons about different patterns and coding. I think a toy has a 10 rating when it can provide hours of play time and learning.
